This is to chronicle my adventures on the USS Midway as a Docent. I was a civilian - I did not serve in the military, but I have respect for those that did.

I worked the Island tours this afternoon after the job fair. I met two Army Captains, they were very cool.
I found out more about the m-a-w guest coming this weekend. His name is Brennan, he's 7, and Midway was is his first choice on his make-a-wish list. I have a Marine Color Guard scheduled to come and perform for us.

I worked ths Flight Deck as 'Rover' and got to meet a lot of exciting people this weekend. We had a few adventures such as a swarm of bees on the pier and a broken leg down one of the ladders from the Officer's Dirty Shirt Ward Room. It never ends.
I worked the Fri/Sat overnight event as well. We had Boy Scouts from Irvine. They were very respectful and were great to work with.
I was selected to tour a "Make-a-Wish" guest this coming weekend. That is a great honor. I hope I'm up to it. More later.

I worked the Ready Rooms today. I met a 'young man' who had joined the Navy in 1946, just months after the end of WWII. He had been a pilot, and the CO of The F4 Ghost Rider Squadron VF-153. Earlier, he had been in VF-152 The Pukin' Dogs - he got a chuckle pointing that one out. He and his brother were talking up old times. It was a real pleasure meeting them.

Today was a tour at MCAS Miramar with the Flying Tigers squadron. They are a heavy cargo helocopter squaron. They were awesome. I met Staff Sgt Miller and we toured Hanger 5 and a CH53 Helo.
When they fired up the engines - it was loud, so the Sgt gave us the 'crainials' to wear. Required Standard Equipment !
Can you tell I had good time ?
